Colombia National Team arrives in Guadalajara to set up their World Cup base at Atlas FC's Academia Aga, a venue chosen to prepare for their debut against Uzbekistan. The Colombian team will stay in Guadalajara for two weeks to prepare for their games, where they will have to travel to Mexico City for their first match on June 17, 2026. They will then play their second group match against the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Guadalajara and leave for Miami on June 25 to face Portugal on June 27, 2026. The choice of the Mexican base is also connected to the path that Colombia could take after the group stage. If they advance to the round of 16 as leaders of Group K, they will play in Kansas against one of the best third-placed teams; if they qualify in second place, they will go to Toronto, Canada; and if they do so as third-placed, their match will be in Atlanta. A day before the arrival of the Tricolor, the Mexican club published a video on their social networks with images of the training venue and the city. The audiovisual piece highlighted Camilo Vargas, Atlas goalkeeper, and closed with the message: Welcome to Colombia, Selection. The goalkeeper was a key figure in the choice of the place of preparation. Vargas, current Atlas player, was crucial in the selection of that location after his previous stay in San Diego, California. About the player, the club stated in their communication the pride of having a World Cup player who plays in their club: The Colombian Superhero, historic goalkeeper of Atlas FC, has been the protagonist of one of the most important stages of the club, being Bicampeón de Liga MX and Campeón de Campeones, consolidating himself as a reference both inside and outside the pitch. The Academia Aga has six pitches and areas of analysis, performance, and recovery. Atlas highlighted in their communication the importance of being chosen by the selection and detailed the infrastructure available for Colombia's preparation. The Academia Aga has six professional pitches: four of natural grass and two synthetic. The complex also has areas of Applied Sports Science oriented towards performance, analysis, and recovery, as well as a high-performance gym and specialized rehabilitation spaces. In the same communication, the club added: This complex, designed by Sordo Madaleno, has been recognized with multiple awards worldwide for its architectural innovation and its ability to host top-level sports operations. The Tricolor will arrive in Guadalajara at noon on Wednesday, June 10, after passing through San Diego. From that Mexican city, they will begin immediate preparation for their World Cup debut against Uzbekistan in Mexico City. Camilo Vargas was key in the choice of Atlas as Colombia's home in the 2026 World Cup. The Colombian team travels to Guadalajara to set up their World Cup base, a choice defined by the Colombian team.
